In an effort to equip students with practical skills for the digital era, Universitas Muhammadiyah Bengkulu (UM Bengkulu), in collaboration with Bank Indonesia (BI), held a Public Education Synergy Program (PSEP) titled Digital Marketing Training & Professional Competency Certification Exam. This program was specifically targeted at final-year students who are eager to broaden their knowledge and capabilities in the field of digital marketing.

The event took place over three days, from August 6–8, 2025, at the Hasan Dien Hall of UM Bengkulu, and was attended by 100 students participating in the certification training. The goal of the program was to explore marketing strategies that utilize digital media as a tool to promote products and services to consumers.

The event was officially opened by the Rector of UM Bengkulu, Dr. Susiyanto, M.Si., and was also attended by the Head of Bank Indonesia’s Bengkulu Representative Office, Wahyu Yuwana Hidayat. In his remarks, the Rector emphasized the importance of mastering digital technology and marketing in today’s rapidly evolving era.

“This professional certificate is one of the key considerations for institutions in hiring employees. It’s essential that students are equipped not only with knowledge but also with hands-on training. This is not just an ordinary certificate — it’s a professional certification signed by the National Professional Certification Board (BNSP),” said Dr. Susiyanto.

Meanwhile, Wahyu Hidayat, Head of the BI Bengkulu Representative Office, stated that certification exams not only validate a person’s competencies but also provide significant benefits to the digital marketing industry as a whole.

“With certification, companies can more easily select qualified candidates for relevant positions. It also serves as an objective benchmark to assess the quality of human resources within an organization. Digitalization is an era we must all master. The world is becoming increasingly digital, and students need to develop the relevant skills to survive and compete. Through this activity, students will not only gain theoretical understanding but also practical experience they can immediately apply,” Wahyu explained.

In another part of the event, the Head of the Student Affairs Office (UPT Kemahasiswaan), Rasman, M.I.Kom, emphasized that the program is part of UM Bengkulu’s effort to prepare competent graduates.

“We at the Student Affairs division have a Career Development Center (CDC), which prepares graduates to be tested, competent, and job-ready. This training and competency exam is part of that effort, especially to enhance our graduates’ understanding of digital marketing — a topic that is currently widely discussed,” Rasman stated.

He also expressed his gratitude to Bank Indonesia’s Bengkulu office for facilitating the program and hopes that the collaboration will continue in the future.

“Thank you, Bank Indonesia,” he said during the event.
